Introduced into Lebanon in 2007 under the ownership of Selim Ramia, the Grand Cinemas brand has become a statement of quality entertainment following a run of unprecedented success in the UAE.
Grand Cinemas has consistently strived to set the industry standard and succeeded, the proof evident in the steady proliferation of theatres. In July 2007, GC took over the strategically located theatres at ABC Mall Achrafieh, launching Grand Cinemas ABC. Implementing its mission to invest in west Beirut, the company went on to refurbish and re-inaugurate Verdun's Grand Concorde in 2008, in the same year also taking the brand north, and bringing Enfeh's Las Salinas theatre up to the Grand standard.
2008 and 2009 were an exciting time to be part of the Grand Cinemas experience. Not only did we release some of the most enormous films in history, we also unveiled a new stage in our E/Ticket system, making it possible for you to buy your movie tickets from the comfort of your home, and introduced the first E/Kiosks to Lebanon. In only 12 short months, GC proudly accomplished a 26% market share. By bringing Lebanese moviegoers only the best in entertainment, in 2009 Grand Cinemas earned additional kudos in the industry when the company's market share grew to an enviable 33%.
In February 2011, the brand expanded south to the region's newest leisure and shopping destination. Heralded as the city's first cinema complex, Grand Cinemas at Saida Mall marked the fourth GC location to open in Lebanon in less than four years.
And the expansion continues. In the coming months, we turn our attention to new Grand Cinemas locations across the Levant. In Lebanon, moviegoers can expect GC inaugurations in ABC Dbayeh, as well as the luxurious Landmark project in downtown Beirut, set to open 2013.
Plans are also under way for a highly anticipated seven-screen destination at Aleppo's popular Shahba Mall, making Grand Cinemas Syria's first ever multiplex. 2011 will also see the arrival of brand new theatres at Kuwait's high-end Al Hamra Mall and Jordan's Taj Mall.
Join us as we reinvent the cinema experience and bring the region's moviegoers only the best in entertainment.
When we say Grand, we mean it.
Grand Cinemas theatres at Saida Mall and Las Salinas in Lebanon, City Mall in Jordan, Shahba Mall in Syria, and Al Hamra Tower in Kuwait are the result of a partnership between Selim Ramia & Sons and Jamal Sannan's Eagle Films under the Grand Entertainment group. Amman's Grand Taj Cinemas is a partenership between SR&Sons, Jamal Sannan and Yousef Al Taher.
